Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) (4/4)

Invasion of the Body Snatchers

The classic. This movie's been analyzed to death; some say it's a warning against the communists among us, while others say it warns against the dangers of McCarthyism.
Either way, it's a great movie based on the enemy within scenario. Aliens come to earth in giant seed pods and infiltrate the bodies of human hosts. They are indistinguishable from humans, except for their lack of emotion. Since it's hard to tell who's an alien and who isn't, the situation becomes increasingly terrifying.

An interesting aside: The producer, Walter Wanger, shot his wife's lover in the groin after discovering their affair. He was convicted of attempted murder and served 4 months. The Apartment, Billy Wilder's well known movie, was inspired by the incident.
